The short version

Soccer Atlas is a map game for families. We don't ask for names, emails or passwords, we don't know where you are, and there are no ads or trackers. If you join the leaderboard, we keep a made-up name, a flag and your scores.

What stays on your phone

Your progress, points, streak, subs, settings and the places you have found are kept on your phone. We never see them. If you join the leaderboard, only your match scores are sent to us.

The game asks how old you are when it first opens, so it knows whether a kid or a grown-up is playing. Only that, "kid" or "grown-up", is kept, on your phone. The age itself is not kept, and it is never sent to us.

The leaderboard

The leaderboard is optional. If you join:

Everyone who plays sees the made-up names, flags and scores. Nothing else about you is shown or kept.

In a class

A school can give a class its own link to the web game. Opened from that link, the game asks our server whether the class is one of ours, sending only the code in the link, and keeps the class's name, its school and its grade in the browser. In a class there is no shop, no prices and no leaderboard, the game does not ask anyone's age, and nothing about the children is sent to us.

Buying things

Purchases go through the App Store or Google Play. We never see card details or your account. We use RevenueCat to check what was bought; it gets an anonymous ID and the purchase record, never your name. When a kid is playing, every purchase needs a grown-up to answer a sum first.

Maps and photos

Maps and satellite pictures load from our servers, which run on Cloudflare; the satellite pictures come from Esri. Like any website, these servers see your internet address when your phone asks for a picture. We don't keep it or use it to identify anyone.

To stop abuse, the leaderboard counts how many new players join from one internet address in an hour, using a scrambled form of the address that is deleted after the hour.

The stadium and landmark photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are built into the app.

Children

Soccer Atlas is made to be safe for children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age. There is no chat, no messaging, and no way to type anything other players can see.
